Monday 11th July - Preparations for camp!

Firstly a fantastic effort from the Scouts who turned up to help serve food on the Green on Saturday for the Histon Feast week. The leaders had some fantastic reports back about how helpful and professional you all were. Well done! Next week can someone remind me to take the names down of people who helped as they will earn some points for their patrol.

Monday 4th of July - Checking the tents and washing up!

Monday night had the Scouts pitching their favourite of all the tents, the big green patrol ones! Overall a very good effort from most of the Scouts with particular mention going to our newer Scouts who put in that extra little bit of effort. Maybe they realise it is better to have some practise pitching them before they have to sleep under them (scary stuff!). Samuel and Kathryn had their tents up in no time and looking very good indeed. We also found out that we need about 55 pegs per tent, allowing for a few of them to shatter under the heavy pounding of the mallets.

Air Researcher Badge

Ever fancied completing the Air Researcher Badge?

Well here is the one-stop-shop resource to help you!

Incorporating a trip to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, 15 minutes down the M11, will allow you to pick up this badge and points for your patrol! The best news is you get into the museum for FREE!

Monday 16th of May - Cooking on fires

Firstly a BIG congratulations to the 3 new Scouts who were invested tonight in front of a fire made by one of the patrols. You have joined the world wide community of Scouts and will always have a friend wherever you find yourself.

However, onto the main event. Today we were cooking over an open fire. Firstly the patrols had to build their own fires and then light it with just one match. The best fire was easily Abi's Eagles! They were the first to get a flame and the first to start cooking. Well done to them!

With the odd skewer poking, the rest of the patrols were soon cooking their sausages. I had a go at cooking a sausage, however it turned out a lot worse than most of the ones cooked by the Scouts, although it was still edible, I think! Afterwards the bananas, chocolate and marshmallows were handed round; a firm favourite with many of the Scouts.

We ended the evening with the investitures and a warm welcome was given by all to the three new Scouts. If your son or daughter would like to join Scouts then click here or click on the 'Join Scouts' Button on the right hand side of the home page.

The Scouts left eager for more fun and food the following week. Who knows what the leaders have planned?
