Talk Like A Pirate

Friday 19th September was Talk Like A Pirate Day. Yarrrr! Did you miss it? Be Prepared for next time by watching this:

Logo Hunt

We need a logo for this site. Now, me, I'm a bit old-fashioned, and I like the green fleur-de-lis thing. But I was in such a hurry I didn't even centre it or cut around the edge properly when I nabbed it from the official clip art.

TROOP SCAVENGER HUNT

Emergency Scavenger Hunt! This is a challenge to see how well you guys can mobilize outside of troop night. Phone your PL! Phone your mates in the Patrol!

Instructions

The list is attached below. Everything to be collected by 19:30 on Monday night... anything or anyone late for flag break won't be counted. Check the list right away. The grand prize, for immediate presentation is a 1.8 kilo jar of Jelly Belly beans, in 40 flavours. (I've left out the Harry Potter snot flavours.)

I'd wish you good luck, but there's no luck in it. Work it!!

Remember - you don't have to get everything. Just more than the competition. :-)

Your PL Needs You!

Scouts: Advance Warning - Your PL may need to get in touch with you this weekend for a little task I have set for them. Please be prepared. Register on this site (in the bar on the right) in your own name (not your Mum's!) with good contact details.... phone, email, MSN... and give him a fighting chance of tracking you down.

Also: Don't Forget Your BIKE.

PL's - different topic: If you have ideas for patrols, I'm going to need them by Friday. Kevin, you need to choose a patrol name from the standard ones on scouts.org.uk. Finally guys, give me more than just a list... let me know why you want who you want where. Cheers.

Belgian arch bridge

You'll have spotted that I've syndicated some great little blogs and news sites and popped them in the left sidebar there. Well this just turned up in the Ropes and Poles blog. Hells teeth - we have got to build ourselves one of these!

Belgian arch bridge -
This bridge was built at last year's Belgian Jamboree, by members of Ploeg Technieken, who have featured previously with the cloverleaf lashing. Kim notes that this was built 'only with manpower, no cranes, winching ... just people with hands ;-) '

This is a large and complex project, built from a series of smaller assemblies- see, for example, the 'ladders' that interlock to form the arches in the middle photograph below.

THE TROOP PROGRAMME - Fall '08

I've just posted the Troop programme for the term. Ian tells me I have to disclaim: It's All Going To Change. Or might do. If we change our minds!

Register Yourself!

Fingers crossed, registration is up and running. You just need an email address. When you've done it, just ping me if you want upgrading to author status. gregharewood at mac dot com.
