Working Party – Saturday 14th August
Hi,
The brickwork for the Crossing Keeper’s Hut is coming along well so we need to get on with preparing the woodwork.
The window frames have already been started and are almost ready for painting although work on the fascia hasn’t even begun.
…..So we’ll be stripping on Saturday!
If you care to join the enviro.volunteers for a bit of painting too we’ll be meeting up the hut on Saturday 14th at 9:30am to collect the timbers and then we’ll be moving on to No10 Mill Road (off The Crescent opp Cooke Walk).
All equipment and gloves etc will be provided along with the usual refreshments – just turn up.
Hope to see you there.
Cheers,
Pene
Log seats & spreading chippings in Homefield Park meet @ 9:30am Saturday 26th June
Hi,
Many thanks to everyone for all their help last Saturday with a spot of selective weeding of some grass and Docks which were beginning to engulf the wildflowers on the corner of Clay Close Lane/ Burgoynes Road – we can see the flowers now! We also cleared the grass from the drainage “grips” and also watered & mulched the new oak trees – including those in the nearby Doctors’ Close field – they are looking great!
Some of you may have noticed that the Rec.Car Park is looking a bit bare since the trees there were felled last week. Unfortunately they all succumbed to disease and had become unsafe. However there is a bright side – we have retained much of the timber and the chippings which have all been delivered to Homefield Park…… so this Saturday we’ll be using the large logs to create some new seating, and the chippings to create a new woodland path.
We’ll be meeting in Homefield Park (near The Dole entrance) at the usual time of 9:30am. If you live nearby and can spare a little time that would be great. If not perhaps you know someone who lives nearby – please let them know we’ll be working in their patch. If you can’t help us with the spreading the chippings, then perhaps you could lend us a barrow or boil us a kettle for our tea break!
As usual all tools and refreshments will be provided, so just turn up! As much or as little time as you can manage would be very useful and much appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing you.
Cheers,
Pene
